Stappers Julien was born on August 9, 1875 in Chenee, near Liège. He was a Belgian painter of landscapes, town views, still life and florals.
Stappers became known for his sunny colour palette in cityscapes and southern landscapes, but especially for still lifes with images of flowers in always attractive interiors.
He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (1894-1899) with master teacher and artist Albrecht De Vriendt (1843 – 1900) and completed his education at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts also in Antwerp (1899-1901).
He first exhibited in 1903 in Brussels, and exhibited extensively throughout his lifetime in Brussels, Spa and other important venues in Belgium.
Stappers Julien exhibited at the Rubens Gallery in Brussels from 1959 – 1960 and at the La Galerie Jordaens in Ghent in 1957, 1959 and 1960.
The painter died in his hometown on April 17, 1960. Today, his works can be found in private and public collections worldwide.
